Local comedian leverages recent stand-up shows and two Massachusetts Cultural Council Grants to launch Pop-Up Punchlines, a recurring series of high quality entertainment in the Berkshires
North Adams, MA - March 21, 2023 - Local professional comedian Charlie Nadler has launched Pop-Up Punchlines, a new series of stand-up comedy shows throughout Berkshire County featuring a mix of touring headliners and talented regional acts, with Nadler neurotically hosting.
Thanks to wonderful partnerships with local businesses, current shows take place at Berkshire Palate in Pittsfield, Bounti-Fare in Adams, and Bright Ideas Brewing in North Adams. The most recent shows at each of these locations were sold out. In addition, Nadler is working with Adams Theater owner Yina Moore to bring national acts to her venue. Their first collaboration is on June 3 with comedian and violist Isabel Hagen, as seen twice on The Tonight Show!
Pop-Up Punchlines has also just received two generous grants from Mass Cultural Council, a $5,000 Cultural Sector Pandemic Recovery Grant and $1,000 from the Cultural Council of Northern Berkshire. With these funds, the business will be able to purchase professional audio visual equipment to enhance current shows and produce private stand-up comedy events for local individuals and organizations.
The Pop-Up Punchlines ethos is simple. Everyone should have fun and be treated well! The audience, the comedians who travel great lengths to share their talents, and especially the local business partners who so graciously supply their physical spaces and amazing staff. When all stakeholders enjoy the experience, it’s hard for a show to fail [and in that moment, a comedy curse was born!].
Nadler is in conversation with additional venues in the Berkshires and beyond for the second half of 2023. Pop-Up Punchlines also seeks sponsors who will enable the company to continue to invest in its comedy infrastructure and help cover lodging costs to more easily bring comedians in from far and wide. About Pop Up Punchlines / Charlie Nadler
Pop Up Punchlines was created in 2023 by comedian Charlie Nadler after several successful shows at Bounti-Fare in Adams. Charlie owes his existence to a TV show; his parents met while writing together on Laverne & Shirley. In 10+ years of performing standup while based in Los Angeles, New York City, and now the Berkshires, he has released two albums and told jokes around the world in clubs, colleges, festivals, bars, country clubs, teen centers, basements, attics, and one barber shop. He also develops screenplays and serves as co-founder of Laugh Dealers, a proud graduate of EForAll’s business accelerator that produces custom comedy shows and consulting for companies and individuals. Nadler relocated here in 2019 with his wife Cary. Together they raise two cats who do not care for comedy.
