Berkshire Cider & The Distillery at Greylock Works
Looking for something new and different to add to the table for Thanksgiving? Support a new cidery in town and shop local. Berkshire Cider Project opened in July at Greylock Works. They welcomed new customers via a “cider to-go window” to keep everyone safe. Now they’re trying to adjust to the changing weather by getting a tasting room open, which has been delayed by COVID-19.
“There's been a lot of support and curiosity (who couldn't use a drink this year)!, said Matt Brogan, who co-owns the business with his wife Kat Hand. “But we're so grateful this community wants us to succeed and we've got exciting things coming up.”
For the holiday they’re offering special cider packs (which can be ordered online) and all retail has been moved inside. Starting in January Berkshire Cider will have limited hours due to the lack of fresh apples during the season.
Brogan said the support from the North Adams community has been really special. “It's also allowed us to find the right people and help those who could use an extra shift during this crazy year. We love sending our visitors to other local businesses.”
The next release in the Berkshire Cider schedule is “Sour Quince,” made entirely from community apple donations, a ‘pet-nat’ crabapple, and another batch from Hancock Shaker Village. That will be available in 500mL bottles soon.

Situated next to Berkshire Cider Project is the Distillery at Greylock Works. It was founded in 2015 and is made up of Ryan Max Riley, Emily Vasiliauskas, and Joan Gaskins. The distillery crafts artisanal gins and rums with traditional equipment, innovative methods and fine ingredients. They also offer convenient cocktail kits.
