Keep on Dancing
Studio North Dance Arts maintains programming amidst a pandemic
Since children have been out of school long before summer break started, some say it’s been hard to keep them engaged through the warmer months without the option of camps. For Studio North Dance Arts, the faculty has been working hard to keep kids dancing even at home over the last few months. Now they’ve introduced a hybrid system for students who want to learn in-person.
The studio has taught children age 3 and up on a variety of dance disciplines since 2012.
“My dance families have been super supportive and thankful for all that myself and my faculty has done to keep the kids dancing. We are now offering hybrid classes - a fusion of in-person and virtual classes to meet the varying desires and needs of our families. I am making major investments in tech to provide an incredible experience for all students,” said Owner and Director Jessica Gwozdz.
The studio closed at the same time as public schools on March 13. During that time Gwozdz worked with her assistant director and teachers to pivot programming for online classes.
“We adjusted some of our lesson plans to fit the medium. The biggest thing I learned was that virtual classes need to be high energy, super interactive and they need to be FUN,” Gwozdz said.
For students returning in-person, Gwozdz said her staff is following CDC cleanliness guidelines “to create the safest environment possible.”
“Summer always sees smaller classes, so I cannot project what fall will look like, but we are working hard to provide a premium experience for all and keep children and teens doing what they love,” she said.
Studio North Dance Arts is located in the Norad Mill at 60 Roberts Drive Suite 103.
